Look at these big smiles! That’s Dr. Nelson with Aaron Brock, Executive Director of the Missoula Food Bank and Community Center. We let Dr. Nelson escape from the office for a few minutes to drop off a donation check. We hope it helps make the holiday season a little brighter for Missoula families in need.
The Missoula Food Bank was established in 1982 as a volunteer effort, delivering boxes of groceries from the trunks of cars to the doorsteps of those in need. As Missoula has grown, so too has hunger, and because of the generosity of this community, Missoula Food Bank & Community Center has continued to address food insecurity in our neighborhoods with empathy, equity, and dignity. Their store program remains a safe and welcoming place for anyone in the community who may be in need of a little help with food. Missoula Food Bank & Community Center began serving 100 families each month, they now provide over 7,000 monthly services. Last year over 26,242 men, women, and children were served in their store. That number does not count all of those who benefitted from their food outreach programs. Overall, the Missoula Food Bank serves 1 in 6 people in Missoula County. Their mission is to lead the movement to end hunger in the community through activism, volunteerism and healthy food for all. We think they are doing a great job fulfilling their mission!
The Missoula Food Bank & Community Center is always in need of donations and volunteers. There are many ways to help if you’d like to support the organization this holiday season.
