Our team at Nelson Dentistry understands emergencies can happen at any time, even when we are being careful. If you have a toothache, broken tooth, or dental infection, please don’t let your smile suffer or wait for treatment. The Nelson Dentistry team is highly skilled and experienced in treating various dental emergencies, including toothaches, dental damage, and oral infections.

Common Dental Emergencies

Our immediate goal is to alleviate pain, but we also restore oral health and ensure your teeth and gums are healthy and damage-free.

Common dental emergencies we treat include:

  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Dislodged tooth
  • Broken or lost restoration
  • Dental sensitivity
  • Toothache or oral pain
  • Dental infection
  • Soft tissue injuries

Untreated dental emergencies can result in progressive pain, disease, tooth loss, and more. Our dental team can always speak over the phone if you need advice or assistance. We also make time in our schedule for emergency dental appointments so you can get the care you need when you need it.

Dental Emergency Treatments

Dr. Nelson offers high-quality, customized treatment for dental emergencies, including:

#1 Root Canal Therapy

Root canal therapy allows us to remove infected or diseased tooth pulp and restore the tooth’s structure and health. Dr. Nelson treats tooth infections gently and thoroughly and doesn’t begin the treatment until the area is numb. During the procedure, the dentist cleans the tooth’s root canal system and administers antibacterial agents to disinfect the tooth. After the tooth is cleaned, the dentist fills the tooth’s empty root canal and seals it with a dental filling or crown.

#2 Tooth-Colored Fillings

Deep cavities or damage can be painful, and our Missoula dentist can provide a tooth-colored filling to restore the tooth. After numbing the area, Dr. Nelson removes the decay and covers the tooth with composite resin filling to match the natural tooth’s shade and shape.

#3 Restoration Replacement or Repair

Damage to a dental restoration can negatively affect your natural teeth and gums. If you have a lost or broken restoration, we can restore or replace it, so you have more comfortable and functional chewing and speaking.
